The daughter of the president of Herkimer County Community College is the focus of a murder investigation.
37-year-old Colleen McColgin of the Tompkins County town of Dryden was charged with second-degree murder as part of a homicide investigation earlier this month.
According to the Utica Observer-Dispatch, HCCC President Cathleen McColgin confirmed Tuesday that Colleen McColgin is her daughter and e-mailed a statement saying "This will not impact my ability to lead the institution and fulfill my responsibilities as president of Herkimer College."
Two other people are charged in the murder case, which is being jointly investigated by Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Ithaca Police Department and the Tompkins County District Attorney's Office.
