Valatie Businesses Get Boost From Tierra Farm

Tierra Farm, a Valatie-based organic manufacturer and distributor of nuts and dried fruits, has made a substantial contribution to the Village of Valatie for their Main Street mini-grant program.

The Valatie Mini-Grant Program has $20,000 available, providing opportunities to qualifying businesses along Main Street in Valatie,  up to $3,000 apiece for building façade improvements which can include painting, siding, signage, and glass replacement. Darren Grout is CEO of Tierra Farm. "Our hope is that infrastructure improvement will entice more people to stop on the street and come in and experience the wonderful little village of Valatie."

“We hope to pull other people in  to add to the grant for Main Street, which has tremendous potential for growth. We see a lot of value in the street from a business performance. Ninety-five percent of our business is local. It only makes sense to support our neighbors,” said Gunther Fishgold, president of Tierra Farm.

The Village of Valatie will administer the grant. Applicants must fill out a brief questionnaire available at, have a village permit for the desired work, and meet village code requirements to receive grant money.
