For more than four decades, Barbara Bartoletti was a key player in New York state politics and elections, urging good-government, voter education and voter turnout, among many other causes. The former legislative director for the League of Women Voters Of New York State, Bartoletti says passage of the Clean Indoor Air Act in 1995 is probably her proudest moment. Now retired, she will be honored March 10. First, she spoke with WAMC.

"We have made government better, inch by inch," she says. "It takes a long time."
