Charges Filed Against Man Shot By Utica Police

Authorities have filed charges against a central New York man who was shot by a police officer while brandishing a gun during a foot chase.

The Utica Police Department says the charges against 33-year-old Jason Millan include menacing a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon and assault.

Officials say the Utica man shot and wounded another man Tuesday night. When police arrived to investigate, Millan ran from the scene. Police say during the chase he pointed a gun at officers.

One of the officers fired, hitting him in the hand and torso. He remains in a Utica hospital, where he was arraigned Thursday. When he's transferred to Oneida County jail, his bail will be $250,000.

It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.

Police say the man Millan shot was treated at a hospital and released.
