Montpelier, VT – Vermont's Waterbury office complex was heavily damaged by flooding when Tropical Storm Irene swelled the Winooski River. Fifteen hundred state workers have been re-located to other facilities while repairs are made and state officials decide the complex's long term fate. In September, the House and Senate Committees on Institutions toured the facility. On Monday, they were updated on the status of the clean up of the complex and the costs. House Committee on Corrections and Institutions Chair Alice Emmons.

It's estimated the cost of clean up and stabilization will be between $20 million and $25 million, although most of it should be covered by insurance. Representative Emmons says the state Buildings and General Services Department has issued a Request for Information to get input from architects and developers on potential future use of the complex.

Monday's meeting at the Statehouse with House and Senate members did not include long-term plans for the facility.
