State travel restrictions and the closure of the U.S./Canada border during the coronavirus pandemic has put severe stresses on northern New York’s tourism industry.  New York’s 21st Congressional District spans the state’s northern region and straddles the border from Watertown to Lake Champlain. Representative Elise Stefanik recently held a virtual roundtable to discuss the pandemic’s impact and update the industry leaders on remedial actions in Washington.

Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York’s 21st district has been in the national spotlight after challenging House Intelligence Committee Chair Democrat Adam Schiff during the impeachment hearings in Washington. The president has called her a rising star, while the left responded vociferously.  The attention has spilled over to the district’s congressional campaign and has translated into a surge of donations for Democratic opponent Tedra Cobb, who is in the midst of a campaign tour that came to Plattsburgh Wednesday.

The Democrat who lost the 2018 election to Republican Elise Stefanik of New York’s 21st Congressional district is looking for a rematch.

Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is seeking her third two-year term representing the 21st district of northern New York.   During a visit to Plattsburgh this week she talked about the campaign saying while national analysts like the Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rank the district as safely Republican, she continues to reach out to voters.

New York Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is campaigning for reelection to a third two-year term to represent the sprawling 21st House district. During a visit to Plattsburgh Tuesday, Stefanik discussed several national issues with WAMC North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley. Several of the victims of the Schoharie limousine crash that killed 20 people have ties to the district. Stefanik says Congress should act to tighten regulations on the vehicles.

In June, Tedra Cobb won the Democratic primary that at one point had 10 competitors in New York’s 21st House district. Ever since, second-term Republican Elise Stefanik has maintained attacks on the former St. Lawrence County legislator’s voting record. But Cobb says she stands by her record.

New York Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s office announced this week that President Donald Trump has accepted her invitation to visit Fort Drum.  The president plans to sign the national Defense Authorization Bill there on Monday.

All of the officially announced Democrats and one Republican hoping to unseat Republican New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of the 21st district met for a forum on the issues Saturday afternoon.

The field of Democrats running to unseat Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York’s 21st district in 2018 expanded to five this week. The Republican incumbent also faces a challenger within her own party.

Last November, Republican Elise Stefanik was elected to represent New York’s sprawling 21st Congressional district, becoming the youngest woman ever to walk the halls of Congress. Less than a year into her term, she faces a Democratic challenger.  On July 1st retired Army Colonel Mike Derrick announced he was running for the seat.  Derrick tells WAMC North Country Bureau Chief he is encouraged about his chances as he travels the district.

Republican Elise Stefanik, the youngest woman ever to serve in Congress at the age of 30, held a ceremonial swearing-in Saturday in her home district in northern New York.

The first general election debate including all three candidates in New York's 21st Congressional District was held Wednesday night and cablecast statewide. 

Democrat Aaron Woolf, a filmmaker from Elizabethtown; Republican Elise Stefanik, vice president of her family’s plywood company and former White House policy advisor,  and Green Party candidate Matt Funiciello, a breadmaker and political activist from Glens Falls, all are vying for Congressman Bill Owens' seat in the North Country after Owens retires.
