New York State primary election

Tina Sodhi says she will wait until all absentee ballots are counted to claim victory in the Albany County Court judge Democratic primary, but on social media, Joe Meany, who sits in second place, said he called Sodhi to congratulate her on being the newest county court judge-elect.

Unofficial results, as of just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, showed Tina Sodhi leading, with 34.7% of the vote. Joe Meany sat in a close second with 33.92%, and John Czajka trailed with 31.12%.

Scribner will face Democrat Colleen Maxwell in the general election race to replace outgoing Assemblyman Robert Smullen, as well as Potter, who is running on the Conservative Party line.

Lisa Kaul is currently in the midst of her second term representing the town of Poughkeepsie on the Dutchess County Legislature. She will face incumbent New York State Sen. Robert Rolison in November.

Winning the primary virtually guarantees Sonja Okun will serve another term as supervisor, as no Republicans are set to be on the ballot in November.

Sarah Rogerson, founding director of the Immigration Law Clinic at Albany Law School and a former Niskayuna School Board member, will now face incumbent New York State Sen. Jim Tedisco in November.

Janet Tweed also won the 2024 Democratic primary in New York's 102nd Assembly District. She will face former Republican congressman and Trump administration official Marc Molinaro this fall.

New York State Sen. Peter Oberacker will challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Josh Riley in the 19th Congressional District this fall.

Entrepreneur Anthony Constantino, who first made national headlines with a "VOTE FOR TRUMP" sign atop his Amsterdam, New York, factory during the 2024 presidential election, eventually earned Trump's endorsement in this year's Republican primary against State Assemblyman Robert Smullen.

Voters in New York's 106th Assembly District overwhelmingly supported incumbent Didi Barrett's bid for an eighth term, representing a district that stretches from Chatham down to Poughkeepsie.
