WAMC Sports Update: NCAA Final and Frozen Four Set

In men’s college basketball, the NCAA Final Four has been set after No. 7 UConn beat favorite No. 4 Michigan State 60-54 and will see a game Saturday against No. 1 Florida who outshot No. 11 Dayton 62-52. No. 2 Wisconsin saw a close victory over No. 1 Arizona 64-63 and will go head to head with No. 8 Kentucky who defeated Michigan 75-72 in the closing seconds.

In women’s college hoops, undefeated No. 1 UConn will see No. 3 Texas A&M tonight at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN. No. 1 Notre Dame plays No. 2 Baylor at 7:30 p.m. tonight just before also on ESPN.

In the CBI finals, Siena has its first game with Fresno State tonight, at 10 p.m.

Over on the ice, the men’s field for the NCAA Frozen Four has been set. The games start April 10th when Union College goes head to head with Boston College. Minnesota will play North Dakota.

In the beginning of the National League’s stateside opening, San Diego beat the Dodgers 3-1. Today the Mets play Washington at 1:10 p.m. Philadelphia goes against Texas at 2 p.m in interleague play. In the American league, Boston will see Baltimore at 3 p.m today and the Yankees will take on Houston tomorrow at 7 p.m.

In the NHL, The Rangers shut out Edmonton 5-0, Boston bested Philadelphia in a shoot out 4-3, Ottawa defeated Calgary 6-3, Detroit out shot Tampa Bay 3-2, Pittsburgh trumped Chicago 4-1, It was Nashville over Washington 4-3.

In the NBA, New York beat Golden State 89-84, Chicago defeated Boston 107-102, Brooklyn topped Minnesota 114-99, Toronto bested Orlando 98-93, Cleveland edged Indiana 90-76, Oklahoma City out shot Utah 116-96, Portland slid past Memphis 105-98, and it was the Lakers over Phoenix 115-99.
