We're only a month in and already 2016 has been a terrible year when it comes to the titans of rock. We've lost David Bowie, Glenn Frey, and now Paul Kantner, a founding a member of the San Francisco psychedelic band Jefferson Airplane, who died this week at age 74.
Kanter came together with his bandmates in 1965 and created music that now instantly brings to mind flower power, the Vietnam protests, and the Summer of Love. In addition to his solo work, Kantner kept playing guitar under the Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship banner almost to the end. We spoke in 2013, when he was about to play in Schenectady.
