Firefighters battled a massive blaze along Remsen Street in Cohoes late Thursday afternoon.
Cohoes Fire Chief Joseph Fahd, says the fire broke out around 2 p.m. at 228 Remsen and spread to several other buildings. Firefighters had to brave strong winds as they struggled to keep the fire from spreading. The chief spoke with Newschannel13
" We had fires all over the city. We went to Saratoga County, Waterford. Town of Colonie, Troy and Rensselaer County... Albany County Sheriff has a command post here and a bus. Red Cross is here. North Bethlehem and the Town of Guilderland. We reached out quite a ways for this.
Three buildings were destroyed and about 20 buildings in all were affected
