High Winds Knock Down Radio Towers; Disrupts Cell And Internet Services Near North Adams

The North Adams Department of Public Safety released the following statement Sunday morning.

"Due to high winds and heavy rain throughout the night, the radio towers on top of Florida Mountain have collapsed. This has resulted in the loss or significant interruption of cell and internet services in the North Adams area.

If you need assistance and have no cell service, please use your home phone to make any calls.

The North Adams Police Department will be monitoring its Facebook pageif someone is unable to contact Public Safety via telephone.

Also, please tune your radios to WNAW 1230 AM or watch Channel 22, if you are a Time Warner Cable customer for news and updates.

Please, be rest assured, that public safety personnel are in place and fully staffed in the event of any issues or emergencies that may arise.

At this time, it is unknown how long it will take to correct this problem.
