#EnoughisEnough - Lady Gaga Joins NY Gov.'s Push For Campus Rape Policy

wikipedia.org

Lady Gaga is teaming up with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to push for a new campus sexual assault policy at all of the state's colleges and universities.

The pop artist and the Democratic governor published a joint op-ed on Billboard Magazine's website Monday urging lawmakers to extend a policy already in place at New York's public universities to private schools as well. They say campus sexual assault is an "unacceptable epidemic" and the bill is needed to reduce assaults and ensure justice for victims.

The policy, which state schools implemented last year, includes a new definition of sexual consent requiring a clear, affirmative agreement between partners. It also creates a victim's bill of rights and boosts training for law enforcement, faculty and students.
