David Rockefeller Donates Money For NYS Park

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Thursday announced one of the largest-ever private donations in the history of the state park system. As WAMC’s Allison Dunne tells us, the donation is from David Rockefeller.

Governor Cuomo announced that David Rockefeller has donated $4 million to establish an operating endowment supporting his family’s namesake -- the Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Westchester County. The endowment will be used to support environmental programming, capital improvement projects, and other initiatives. It will also help maintain the park's carriage roads and stone arch bridges, which were built by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. The preserve includes part of the family’s Pocantico Hills estate. Rockefeller also plans to donate some 500 additional acres to the 1,400 acre preserve, at a later date.
