Castleton University has announced plans to develop a downtown Rutland building as housing for students.
The school says it will work with developer Mark Foley to renovate the upper floors of the Clement Building into 40 bedrooms for upperclassmen and graduate students. Officials haven't said how much the project is estimated to cost.

The Rutland Herald reports University President David Wolk says there's a limit to what can be built on campus and the Castleton school doesn't have room to expand.

He says the facility will give students "the Vermont version of the urban experience" and will be the latest in a series of facilities in downtown Rutland for the university.

Castleton is about 14 miles west of Rutland.
