The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation is launching a pilot reservation system for parking access in one area of the Adirondacks this spring.

Reservations will be required for the 70 parking spaces at the Adirondack Mountain Reserve/Ausable Club parking lot on Route 73 that provides access to trails on the club’s property and to the Round and Noonmark Mountain trailheads.

Keene Supervisor Joe Pete Wilson says it is a very focused pilot targeting a specific area.

“It’s one set of parking lots, one road that leads through private property to multiple popular trail heads," he said. "It is not the entire High Peaks. It is not the entire Adirondack Park.”

The pilot program will run from May 1st through October 31st.
