Clinton County Legislator Simon Conroy, who had said that he planned to challenge the Democrat in New York’s 21st Congressional district race, has changed his mind and now says he’s endorsing Tedra Cobb.
Democrat Tedra Cobb, who is challenging Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, was facing a potential primary last week after Clinton County legislator Simon Conroy told the Press-Republican Cobb “had her chance” in 2018 and he was running for Congress. Monday he told WAMC he changed his mind and is endorsing Cobb after speaking with her over the weekend during a county Democratic breakfast. “I thought I had a better chance than she has but once we sat down and talked I was convinced that she is the woman to be our new congresswoman.”
Conroy, who has been arrested twice recently, will continue to seek the chairmanship of the Clinton County legislature.
