The city of Plattsburgh has ended its moratorium on new cryptocurrency operations in the city.In March 2018 the city council barred new operations in the city following concerns that the existing operations were forcing the city to exceed its electricity quota, resulting in increased rates. There were also concerns about noise from the operations. Common Councilor Patrick McFarlin, who introduced the resolution to remove the moratorium, says an influx of cryptocurrency business is not anticipated. “The moratorium is definitely going to have to be lifted at some point.”
The measure to end the moratorium passed on a 6 to 1 vote.
