Norsk Titanium Announces Boeing Contract

Norsk Titanium announced Monday that it has received a production order for its 3-D printed structural titanium components.
Boeing will be the first commercial airline in the world to use components produced from Norsk Titanium’s Rapid Plasma Deposition process.

New York state has invested $125 million in the company’s manufacturing plant in Plattsburgh through SUNY Polytechnic. The plant is scheduled to open by the end of the year.

The patented process allows airplane parts to be fabricated lighter and faster at comparable strengths of conventional materials.   Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner will be the first airplane fitted with the parts.
