Conversation With Quebec Minister of International Relations

WAMC/Pat Bradley

Last year the Quebec elections resulted in the Liberal Party taking the helm of government following divisive campaigns that revived the debate over whether it should secede from Canada.  The sovereignty issue was among the topics that Quebec Minister of International Relations and Francophonie Christine St. Pierre discussed with WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley during her visit to SUNY Plattsburgh on Thursday.

Minister St. Pierre was the featured speaker at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Institute on Quebec Studies’ annual Distinguished Quebec Address. Following her formal presentation, she emphasized that the current Quebec provincial government has no interest in putting forth a referendum on sovereignty.

Madame St. Pierre served as Minister of Culture and Communications and the Status of Women in previous administrations.
