Shelters of Saratoga, a non-profit organization that provides emergency and case-management services to those experiencing homelessness in Saratoga Springs, has named a new executive director for the second time in as many years.

Duane J. Vaughn steps into his new role on September 7th.

Vaughn has an extensive resume in charitable services, must recently serving as Executive Director for the Tri-County United Way for the last four years. The organization serves northern Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties.

Vaughn for 13 years also served as Executive Director of the WAIT House, a transitional and emergency shelter program for youth in Glens Falls.

As the pandemic took hold in the spring, Vaughn and the United Way helped organize drive-in food pantries.

Speaking with WAMC’s Southern Adirondack Bureau Chief Lucas Willard, Vaughn said he expects the pandemic to continue to impact local families into the fall.

Lucas Willard is a reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011.
