Mayor Kathy Sheehan is all but assured of a second term after winning the Democratic primary Tuesday.

A new poll shows Democratic Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan leading the pack over two opponents ahead of Tuesday’s primary.

The Siena College poll released Sunday shows Sheehan is the favorite with 51 percent of likely voters sampled. Her 25-point lead is down slightly from 30 points in August.

City Council Member Frank Commisso Jr. comes in second at 26 percent. City Council President Carolyn McLaughlin is at 13 percent.

Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg says Sheehan leads among white voters by 31 points, unchanged from August.

In August, McLaughlin and Sheehan were tied with black voters. McLaughlin has moved ahead of Sheehan among black voters, 34 to 28 percent.
