Brace for a "Cyber Nine Eleven" - that warning comes from Benjamin Lawsky, New York State’s top bank and insurance regulator.
Lawsky issued the warning during a talk at the University at Albany’s School of Business on Thursday. The Times Union quoted New York's superintendent of the state Department of Financial Services - "Money is the oxygen that is fueling the fire of international terrorism.” Lawsky told the gathering that cyber security threats into the financial markets keep him awake at night.
He fears a major cyber terror attack on the financial markets – that he says could trigger mass panic and possibly a run on banks.
