Governor Andrew Cuomo plans to visit Cuba this spring for a state trade mission to the communist nation.
Cuomo and Jose Ramon Cabanas, chief of the Obama administration's Cuban Interests Section, say Thursday that the New York Democrat will lead a delegation to Cuba on April 20.
Cuomo said when he released his state budget proposal last month that he planned to go to Cuba to open new markets for New York companies. His plan was unveiled five weeks after President Barack Obama said the U.S. would begin talks with Cuba on re-establishing diplomatic relations that were cut off in 1961.
The New York mission will include state government officials and business leaders.
