Saratoga Springs Commissioner Comes Out Against Full-Scale Casino

Though Saratoga Springs is considered a contending location for a full-scale casino license in New York, another member of the Saratoga Springs City Council has come out against expanded casino gambling.

According to a letter posted online by the Albany Times Union, Saratoga Springs Public Works Commissioner  Anthony “Skip” Scirocco recently released a statement on his stance against the introduction of full-scale casino resort to the city.

Scirocco states, “By allowing a casino resort into our city we are giving up any say or control and we are inviting subsidized competition to unfairly challenge our historic racetrack, downtown, and city center, and will likely disrupt the quality of life and uniqueness that we are charged with protecting as elected officials.”

So far, no member of the Saratoga Springs City Council has come out fully in favor of an expanded casino gambling facility within the city.
