The Boston Symphony Orchestra has broken ground on an educational hub at its summer home in Lenox.
BSO announced in February a $30 million investment for the Tanglewood Learning Institute to offer patrons education and enrichment programs. In audio captured by the BSO, Tanglewood’s Director Tony Fogg says the investment has increased to roughly $40 million, to upgrade existing facilities as well.
"It will be a place for regeneration and renewal, the very ideals and aspirations for which Tanglewood's creator, Sergei Koussevitzky, had dreamed. We hope that it will become an invaluable community asset," Fogg says.
The year-round facility is expected to offer performance and rehearsal space for the Tanglewood Music Center academy. It’s set to be completed by 2019’s summer season.
