The University of Vermont medical school is offering what is believed to be one of the nation's first full courses in the science of using marijuana as medicine.
Twenty three-states including Vermont allow the use of medical cannabis for a range of medical conditions, although marijuana is still illegal under federal law.
University of Vermont professors say the class is aimed at trying to raise awareness about a potentially useful drug and to dispel myths.
But the professors say they are challenged by a lack of research on what's been a taboo topic.
