General Electric Chief Executive Jeff Immelt says the conglomerate will "always have a big presence in Connecticut," though he confirmed the company is still looking for a new headquarters site.Immelt spoke Tuesday to about 350 people at the Stamford-based Business Council of Fairfield County.
The Stamford Advocate reports Immelt said GE doesn't want special deals, but needs an environment "that's willing to fight hard to be competitive and enduring."
GE's Connecticut sites include its Fairfield headquarters and operations in Bloomfield, Norwalk, Plainville, Stamford and Windsor.
GE has said it will decide on the future of the Fairfield site by the end of the year.
The company has criticized business tax increases enacted this year by the legislature and Governor Dannel P. Malloy. Some of the taxes were scaled back.
