Facebook: Project Native

An environmental nonprofit in the Berkshires focused on the stewardship of native habitats is continuing its fundraising efforts in hopes finding a sustainable model for the organization.More than $10,000 in donations has flowed into Project Native after it announced in October that a merger with Berkshire Botanical Garden fell through. Last week the nonprofit issued a request for proposals seeking a merger or acquisition of its 54-acre property in Housatonic.

“We are putting the plants and nursery to bed in a way such that the plants will be there in the spring so that we can find a way to come back in the spring,” Project Native Chairman Eric Bruun told WAMC News in October. “But at the moment, there is no assurance of being able to do that

Project Native says it needs an additional $80,000 to operate at full function through the winter. There is a $10,000 offer contingent upon raising that amount.
