Mass. Congressional Delegation Backing Minimum Wage Hike

Members of Massachusetts all-Democratic congressional delegation are lining up behind an effort to hike the federal minimum wage to $12 per hour by 2020.

Sens. Edward Markey and Elizabeth Warren have already signed onto the Senate version of the bill.

Markey said the bill will help more families make ends meet, expand economic opportunity, and build an economy that works for all families.

The bill would also phase out the $2.13 tipped wage and index the minimum wage to median wages.

Congressman Seth Moulton has signed onto a similar effort in the House.

The Massachusetts Legislature approved a law last year raising the state's minimum wage in three steps to a U.S.-leading $11 per hour by 2017.

Now there's a push in Massachusetts for a $15-per-hour minimum wage.
