The Clark Art Institute has picked a former president of Williams College to serve as interim director after Michael Conforti retires this August. The Clarks’ board of trustees has picked Frank Oakley, a longtime museum board member and former president, to take over for Michael Conforti following his retirement August 31st. Oakley says he wants to make sure momentum Conforti has created doesn’t fade and insure a smooth transition.
“Before a full-time successor comes in…so I see that as my responsibility working with a staff that I know is a very fine staff,” said Oakley.
A committee of Clark board members will be formed to select an international search firm to find a full-time successor for Conforti, who is stepping down after nearly two decades leading the museum.
