Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams will have a new president this summer. The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education approved Greg Summers as MCLA’s 12th president Tuesday. It confirmed the recommendation made by the college’s Board of Trustees last week, chaired by Tyler Fairbank.
“This is not a college that’s in a position of having to bring in a president to fix something,” Fairbank said during the search process. “It’s instead to really continue to lead this institution on the trajectory that we’re currently on.”
Expected to start in July, Summers is currently provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Mary Grant left MCLA to become chancellor of University of North Carolina at Asheville in January.
