Energy company Kinder Morgan has adjusted its routing of a proposed Pennsylvania to Massachusetts pipeline heavily opposed in the Berkshires, according to The Berkshire Eagle. The Eagle reports Kinder Morgan will file plans Monday that move a proposed natural gas pipeline north to run along Western Massachusetts Electric Company’s existing power lines. The new route goes through the Berkshire County towns of Hancock, Lanesborough, Cheshire, Dalton, Hinsdale, Windsor and Peru eventually heading to New Hampshire and ending in Dracut, Mass.
It avoids Lenox where concerns have been raised about the town’s watershed.
If granted federal approval, the pipeline is expected to be in service by Nov. 2018.
