The city of Pittsfield has fired its embattled veterans’ agent after being on administrative leave since early August.Pittsfield Mayor Dan Bianchi said Monday night Rosanne Frieri, the city’s veteran agent since 2007, has been fired. Bianchi placed Frieri on leave August 5th for refusing to meet with the mayor and other work-related issues. Bianchi says the next step is finding a replacement to handle benefits for the city’s 130 veterans.
“I have some ideas as far as an interim position is concerned,” Bianchi said. “But believe me we are committed to making sure that our veterans receive the services they deserve.”
Frieri also serves as the veterans’ agent for six other area towns.
