Vermont Lawmakers Drop Campaign Finance Reform

WAMC/Pat Bradley

Vermont lawmakers finishing up their business for the year, but some items will not be completed before expected adjournment this evening.

House and Senate conferees have been unable to agree on provisions of the campaign finance bill, particularly a House-passed provision that seeks to limit contributions to so-called super-PACS to $5,000.

Lawmakers could address the measure when they return in January, but it's doubtful they would put changes in place to affect the 2014 election year.

WCAX television is reporting that final votes on the state budget are expected early this evening and that would conclude the Legislature’s business for the session.
