A Bill To Mint Commemorative Purple Heart Coins Is On The President's Desk

A bill to honor the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor with a commemorative coin awaits the president’s signature.

Democratic Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney’s National Purple Heart Hall of Honor Commemorative Coin Act will honor both the Hall of Honor that is in Maloney’s 18th District, in New Windsor, in Orange County, and Purple Heart recipients. Proceeds from the sale of the coin would be directed to the National Purple Heart Honor Mission for tribute projects and educational programs that raise awareness about the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. The Act authorizes the U.S. Treasury to mint $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins and half-dollar clad coins at the U.S. Mint at West Point for the 2022 year. Democratic New York Senator Charles Schumer led the companion legislation in the Senate.
