Road In Orange County Is Named For NYS Senator Larkin

National Purple Heart Hall of Honor

Republican New York state Senator Bill Larkin, who served in World War II and Korea, is being honored in Orange County Friday.

The New York State Department of Transportation recently installed road signs for “Senator William J. Larkin, Jr. Highway” and the signs will be unveiled at a ceremony in the Town of New Windsor. “Senator William J. Larkin, Jr. Highway” will encompass Temple Hill Road and stretch from the five corners in New Windsor to the intersection of Route 300. This portion includes the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor that he co-founded. The renaming of the highway in Larkin’s honor came as part of a bill that renamed the new Tappan Zee Bridge the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Larkin, who is 90, in early May announced his retirement from the 39th Senate seat.
