A college in New York’s Hudson Valley was scheduled to return to in-person classes Saturday. Marist College had gone all virtual for a week following a number of positive COVID-19 cases.

Marist College officials say proactive testing and contact tracing limited the scope of recent cases, some of which stemmed from an off-campus gathering where social distancing and mask wearing protocols were not followed. The Poughkeepsie-based college is pursuing disciplinary action for students who breached the Code of Conduct. During the lockdown, Marist placed the Fulton Townhouses under precautionary quarantine and conducted more than 1,200 tests over five days after the initial cases were identified. A campus-wide email sent on Friday outlined the terms of the pause being lifted.
