Westchester Legislators Recognize Teen Who Discovered A Planet

The Westchester County Board of Legislators this week honored a student who discovered a planet.

The legislators recognized Scarsdale High School senior Wolf Cukier, who discovered a planet while working as a NASA intern. Legislature Chairman Ben Boykin presented Wolf with proclamations both from the Board of Legislators and from County Executive George Latimer. During his second summer internship at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, Cukier was looking at data from a system 1,300 light-years away. It's the first planet anyone at NASA has ever found that has two suns. The planet is currently known as TOI 1338b, but Wolf and his family hope that the planet might ultimately be named "Wolftopia."
