Both Putnam Judge And Helicopter Pilot To Be Laid To Rest

Two high-profile funerals are being held Tuesday in New York’s Hudson Valley. One is for the pilot from Dutchess County whose helicopter crashed atop a New York City skyscraper. The other is for a judge who collapsed in the Putnam County courthouse.

The funeral service for Timothy McCormack, a pilot who was a past chief of the East Clinton Fire Department, is at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Poughkeepsie. The 58-year-old Clinton Corners resident died June 10 when his helicopter crashed on the roof of a midtown Manhattan building amid fog and rain. There is another funeral service for James Reitz, of Mahopac, a Putnam County court judge since 2007, who died June 14 after suffering a heart attack in court. Judge Reitz, who was 57, had also served as an acting state Supreme Court justice. His funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Church, in Carmel.
