The Wawayanda Six Trial Is Set To Begin

midhudsonnews.com

A civil disobedience trial that includes actor James Cromwell is scheduled to begin Thursday. He and five others are accused of blocking access to a gas power plant under construction in Orange County.

They’re known as “The Wawayanda Six”, a group of individuals including Warwick resident James Cromwell and former Democratic New York state Senate candidate Pramilla Malick. The group of six was arrested in December 2015 on charges of disorderly conduct after using civil disobedience to block access to the CPV Valley Energy Center site in Wawayanda.

The Wawayanda Six plan to argue that their actions were necessary in defense of life and will have the support of testimony from public health and climate change experts. The trial takes place at the  Wawayanda Town Court in Slate Hill.
