FERC Issues Environmental Assessment On Pipeline Connection

Courtesy of Millennium Pipeline

A federal regulator has issued an environmental assessment for public comment. The document puts a gas pipeline connection for the CPV plant in Orange County one step closer.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission says the potential environmental effects of the construction and operation of Millennium Pipeline’s Valley Lateral Project would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the environment. The Valley Lateral Project would put in nearly eight miles of new pipeline from Millennium’s mainline to the CPV Valley Energy Center in Wawayanda, The comment period on the environmental assessment ends June 8. This comes after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo directed state agencies to suspend all communications and regulatory proceedings related to CPV amid a federal probe into his former top aide and CPV’s permitting process.
