Federal funding is headed to repair damages from Hurricane Sandy at a reservoir in Westchester County.

More than $1.2 million will be allocated to the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for the Kensico Reservoir, which provides drinking water to millions of New York City residents.  U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced the funding that was provided through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. Schumer says it is not enough to simply rebuild and repair but that preparation for the next storm and potential flood is essential. Gillibrand says the renovations will help safeguard and reinforce the water infrastructure.
