Congressional officials from New York have announced an investment in Metro-North Railroad for capital improvement projects from Hurricane Sandy.

U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and congressional representatives Sean Patrick Maloney and Nita Lowey announced a $100 million federal investment for Metro-North for repairs from the 2012 storm for long-term capital improvement projects. The Federal Transit Administration grant is part of a $787 million investment for the MTA for recovery and resiliency capital projects resulting from Hurricane Sandy. The senators say the funding helps strengthen critical transportation infrastructure without passing on the cost to commuters.
