A new poll released Sunday shows Republican candidate for New York’s 19th congressional district John Faso with a six-point lead over Democrat Zephyr Teachout.
The Time Warner Cable News/Siena College poll shows Faso leading Teachout 48 percent to 42 percent, up from 43 percent to 42 percent in their poll from September. Siena Pollster Steve Greenberg attributes the wider lead to independent voters, who moved to support Faso by a 13-point margin after having been nearly divided. The poll shows both candidates have at least 80 percent support each from their respective parties. The closely watched race is to replace retiring Republican Congressman Chris Gibson.
