Poll Shows Faso, Teachout Are Neck And Neck

John Faso, Zephyr Teachout

The race to replace retiring Republican Congressman Chris Gibson in New York’s 19th Congressional District is neck and neck. That’s according to a Time Warner Cable News/Siena College poll that shows Republican John Faso with a 1-point lead over Democrat Zephyr Teachout.

The poll out Tuesday shows 43 percent of likely voters supporting Faso and 42 percent supporting Teachout. Fifteen percent remain undecided. Both have identical 75 percent support among voters from their parties, with independents virtually evenly divided between the two. Siena pollster Steve Greenberg says Faso has a 14-point lead with men, while Teachout has an 11-point lead with women. She also leads by 20 points with those with a college degree, while he holds a 22-point lead among voters without a college degree. Teachout leads in Ulster and Dutchess Counties and Faso leads in the rest of the district
