A few Hudson Valley businesses are on the receiving end of New York State funding for economic development projects.

$5.9 million will support seven economic development projects in four regions, including two in the Hudson Valley. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the seven projects will create more than 260 jobs. Orange County-based Continental Organics, a sustainable agriculture company in New Windsor, is receiving an up to $750,000 loan to be used for a portion of the cost of developing a 900,000-square-foot aquaponics and fertilizer-production facility. In Ulster County, Stavo Industries will use a grant of up to $200,000 to help purchase machinery and equipment needed to acquire and renovate an 86,000-square-foot facility to expand the production of filter presses used in wastewater treatment. The other projects are in the Southern Tier, in Delaware County, and in western and central New York.
