Judge Says No To Westchester's Injunction Request

A federal court judge Friday denied a request from Westchester County attorneys for a temporary restraining order in relation to an affordable housing settlement.

Attorneys for Westchester County had sought the injunction Friday to stop the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from reallocating $7.4 million in Community Development Block Grant funds. HUD officials had written to County Executive Rob Astorino saying the agency would take away the funds, alleging Westchester had failed to comply with various aspects of a 2009 fair and affordable housing settlement. A spokeswoman for the Republican Astorino says that while the judge did not issue the temporary restraining order, she did give both sides till June 14 to work out the issues. The Board of Legislators backed the move to seek the injunction.
