NY State Parks System Getting $89M Funding Boost

Niagara Falls State Park is getting $25 million in New York Works capital projects funding approved late last month by Governor Andrew Cuomo and lawmakers as part of the $132 billion state budget. Jones Beach State Park on Long Island is getting nearly $12 million.

The Niagara Falls Park had more than 8 million visitors last year, while Jones Beach topped 5 million.

Parks advocates say they're pleased about the additional funding, but they also caution that the parks agency itself has said it has a capital projects backlog of about $1 billion.
