The Norman Rockwell Museum is honored to present a rare series of early twentieth century lighting advertisements by Norman Rockwell and fellow Golden Age illustrators Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, Dean Cornwell, Stanley Arthurs, Worth Brehm, and Charles Chambers created for Edison Mazda Lamps, a division of the General Electric Company. These luminous, richly painted works were widely circulated in published advertisements through the 1920s and are on loan to the Museum for the first time through the generosity of GE Aerospace.

The Norman Rockwell Museum is honored to present a rare series of early twentieth century lighting advertisements by Norman Rockwell and fellow Golden Age illustrators Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, Dean Cornwell, Stanley Arthurs, Worth Brehm, and Charles Chambers created for Edison Mazda Lamps, a division of the General Electric Company. These luminous, richly painted works were widely circulated in published advertisements through the 1920s and are on loan to the Museum for the first time through the generosity of GE Aerospace.

Material Shift showcases work by 13 Haudenosaunee artists who employ found objects and other unconventional materials to create or illustrate traditional cultural objects or concepts and those who, conversely, explore traditional materials in unexpected ways. Works range from playful to provocative. These events are made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum & Library Services, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and friends and members of the Iroquois Museum. Ages 16+

This class is intended for students who have already taken an introductory etching course and are interested in taking their work to the next level with advanced techniques both traditional and experimental. This class will include hardground and aquatint while learning about working back into your plate to develop tonal depth through the expertise of printmaker Ezra Heller. Other methods such as chine collé and intaglio tusche washes will be decided upon through discussion in class.

Ages 16+

Join artist Sophia Bon in this introductory bookbinding class where students will explore the possibilities of accordion and pamphlet binding! Bon will guide students on a variety of monotype processes and how to incorporate their monotype prints into accordion books. Through sewing, gluing, and cutting pages, students will learn how to create simple and dynamic objects. Students will be encouraged to experiment with several monotype techniques, and consider the purpose of their book and how its form can be reflective of its content.

This class can have varying levels of difficulty depending on how much students want to push themselves during their time in the class, the binding itself is beginner friendly and easy to continue exploring at home or in your own studio beyond this class!
