Carve your own text while learning the basics of woodcut. We will take inspiration from type design and decorative typography to design, carve, and print custom letters, words and phrases. This class will cover the basics of tools, carving techniques, registration, and printing methods. No prior experience necessary.

All materials provided.

Parking: Please park on either Iwo Jima Lane or Cedar Street. Parking that is located in front of the Neighborhood Print Studio are for residents living in the Pajama Factory.

Material Shift showcases work by 13 Haudenosaunee artists who employ found objects and other unconventional materials to create or illustrate traditional cultural objects or concepts and those who, conversely, explore traditional materials in unexpected ways. Works range from playful to provocative. For the third iteration of Shaker Outpost, Kiki Smith’s Visiting considers the quiet intimacy of welcome, bringing together a selection of Smith’s blankets with case goods she curated from Shaker Museum’s collection.

Shaker Outpost’s General Store is returning alongside Kiki Smith's new exhibition. Kalman will again stock (and re-stock) the General Store just in time for holiday gifting with her unique take on new, vintage, and antique pieces including notecards, books, textiles, kitchen items, handcrafted embroideries, and small design objects.

Our traditional Holiday Fair promotes the holiday spirit with regional artisans featuring handmade pottery, jewelry, fiber, artisan foods and much more!

All inside our historic 1848 Meeting House.

Light and Transient Causes
In the 250th anniversary year of the Declaration of Independence, this exhibition takes its name from a line in the document that suggests that some grievances may prove too fleeting to justify revolution—and considers asymmetries of perception of what is deemed light enough to ignore, transient enough to postpone. Curated by Marisa Espe.

In this fun and creative class, students will dive into painting, drawing, and printmaking. They'll learn how to build exciting compositions, experiment with layers and textures, and express their ideas through art. Whether they're capturing the world around them or inventing new ones, students will grow their skills and confidence as young artists—all while having a great time making art with their peers!
